Dedicated to Cleaner, Healthier Indoor Air

Welcome to Air Purifier Critic, your independent guide to indoor air quality, residential air filtration systems, and particulate science. We help homeowners, apartment dwellers, pet owners, and allergy sufferers navigate the noisy air cleaner market with data-driven reviews, clear performance breakdowns, and practical buying guides.

Meet Our Lead Editor: David Sterling

David Sterling has spent over 11 years researching indoor environmental health, residential ventilation, and particulate capture efficiency. Having worked alongside HVAC technicians and building health consultants, David evaluates air purifiers beyond superficial spec sheets—focusing on True HEPA sealing, real-world CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate), cumulative energy consumption, and total cost of ownership.

“Clean indoor air is not a luxury—it is fundamental to cognitive function, deep sleep, and long-term respiratory wellness. Our goal is to separate exaggerated marketing claims from genuine filtration performance.”— David Sterling

Our Testing & Evaluation Methodology

Every air purifier featured on Air Purifier Critic undergoes rigorous evaluation against core performance benchmarks:

• Filtration Integrity: We inspect filter gasket seals, True HEPA H13/H14 compliance (capturing 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns), and activated carbon density for odor/VOC adsorption.
• CADR & Room Sizing: We match room dimensions to verified Clean Air Delivery Rates for smoke, pollen, and dust, ensuring at least 4.8 air changes per hour (ACH) for allergy relief.
• Acoustic Output (dB): We verify sleep-mode sound levels and high-speed noise output to guarantee whisper-quiet bedroom operation.
• True Lifetime Running Costs: We calculate annual electricity draw alongside genuine replacement filter pricing to expose hidden long-term ownership expenses.
